"Reflections" Book Description
Indie musician Cheryl Alexander selects some of her favorite lyrics and poems and provides an introspective statement about each one in this enchanting book called "Reflections." Self-revealing and heartfelt, these lyrics, poems, and introspections touch upon topics of loss, spirituality, following one's passion, sensuality and sexuality, and day-to-day challenges. The humorous piece rounds out this compilation of thought-provoking writings. Several of the songs written about in this book can be heard on Cheryl's CDs, "Let Me Out" (2008) and "Resilience Redefined" (2011).
"Reflections" Book Cover
I have been enjoying working with Mitch Bentley of Atomic Fly Studios on both my book cover and my CD cover. The book cover for "Reflections" is almost complete and I am excited about it. I hope you will be too. The front cover shows me lying naked with my guitar in a reflective pose viewing storm clouds. I didn't take the photo with the book cover in mind; it was taken for the fun of it, along with several other photos, after I finished the photo shoot for my CD cover. When I saw the photo though, I thought it encompassed several key elements that pictorially depict what this book is about for me. It shows me in a contemplative, reflective mode and I am baring myself to the world. I am lying with my lover - my guitar is pressed against my body as I hold dear to me that which I am so passionate about, playing guitar and writing songs. There is sensuality and artistic expression. I feel the external, in this case, does reflect the internal.

I hope you enjoy the lyrics and poems I have selected for this book and the reflection I have written about each one. I'll keep you updated on when the book is scheduled to be released.

CD Cover Photo Shoot with Ron Vick
This New Year's Day I had the pleasure of doing my CD cover photography with Ron Vick. To give you some hints about the theme of the photo shoot I will start off by saying that I really enjoyed "hanging" out with Ron at his studio. It "barely" seemed like any time had gone by at all before the shoot was over, although in actuality I was "tied" up for quite a while. And that's the "naked" truth.

So keep your eyes out for my upcoming CD that is scheduled to be released this spring.

Upcoming EP and Book
I am currently about two-thirds of the way through recording my EP that I hope to release early 2011. You can hear three of the tracks I've finished so far - "My Innocence;" "Fly, My Love;" and "Tear Down This Wall." I am having a great time recording the tracks at Overdub Lane in Durham, NC and working with John Plymale.

Also, I have finished the content to a book, which contains selected lyrics and poetry that I have written with reflections on each of these writings. I am hoping to have the book available at the same time as the EP.

Recording Tracks
Cheryl is currently in the recording studio recording songs for her upcoming EP.
